The tour: Kaliningrad - Svetlogorsk - Yantarny
Svetlogorsk spreads on high coast in the shadow of the ancient pines. The resort radiates tranquillity and calmness. Cosy streets of former Rauschen preserve the memories of a century-long history of the resort.
You can enjoy the architecture, take a picture with the most beautiful water tower of East Prussia, then go down to the promenade and see the sundial.
Our next destination is Yantarny, formerly known as Palmnicken, - the town of amber prospectors and manufacturers. Over 90% of the world’s amber reserves are located here. You can visit the amber mine and enjoy the aerial view of it, and also visit Amber Pyramid. You can try mining amber yourself and receive the Amber Prospector diploma. You can visit the amber combine and manufacture.
After a hearty meal, you can go for a walk through the town streets. You can visit the unique Museum and Exhibition Complex Amber Castle, which is located in the fortress castle Palmniken, built in the 14th century. You will see the kirche, the park, the widest beaches of the region, the marvellous wooden promenade over the lake created by the ebb-tide.
Return to Kaliningrad
In the evening you’re invited to dinner in the restaurant of Castle Hotel Nesselbeck, where the cooks use old Russian recipes, and immerse yourself into everyday life of the knights of the Teutonic Order. You can try on real armour, accurately recreated by local blacksmiths from historical archives and drawings, and take a picture in the full knightly attire in front of one of the most unusual showplaces of Kaliningrad.
